An ultra-low temperature freezer holds samples at −40 °C to −86 °C. It is typically used for cell lines, plasma, nucleic acids and mRNA vaccines.
This is not recommended. Pharmaceutical refrigerators use forced-air circulation, tighter uniformity and alarms, which GMP/GLP and cold-chain guidelines expect.
